Slow cookers are the greatest invention since well I don’t know, but I love them! Normally we go with chicken, but had never tried steak before. Started googling and found this recipe at http://www.columbian.com/weblogs/paleo-in-a-pinch/2012/jun/21/slow-cooked-spicy-steak-for-wraps-salads-and-eggs/ Now I noticed she had taken all these photos well she was cooking so I did the same… I don’t know if it’s the same look but you let me know what you think.
OK for this you will need;
- Slow Cooked Spicy Steak
- 3lb. Boneless Round Steak
- ½C. Chicken Stock – or Beef Stock (check out my recipe for Chicken Soup Starter/Chicken Stock)
- 1 Can Salsa Verde – I like the HERDEZ brand, no preservatives.
- 1 Can Sliced Green Chilies (Optional)
- 1tsp. Chili Powder
- 1tsp. Cumin
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Onion – I used Vidalia
Be sure to wear your onion cutting goggles…

Layer the steaks on the bottom on the slow cooker, top with onions! Mix all the other ingredients and pour on top.
Cook for 6-8 hours on low.
This didn’t look stunner after it was cooked but when I took the steak out and had my first bite was very pleased. I had this just as is with a yam and it was great. The next morning I had the left overs with some scrambled eggs… nailed it!
