The other day Holly and I were chatting about grains and how North America is such a high grain culture. Holly then mentioned that she had a read in a forum that “grain is bad for the brain”. So I went googling away, and was shocked at how many peer-reviewed articles there are regarding diet and schizophrenia. Don’t believe me google “diet and mental health”.
So what did I learn; if you have a sensitivity to gluten it can be linked to schizophrenia and other mental diseases. Now to make this short story long, what is gluten? Gluten is the protein found in wheat, and in genetically modified wheat, gluten concentrations can be up to 5 times greater than that found in regular wheat. One article that caught my eye, most likely because it is so scientifically written was from Goliath it says “Historical and anthropological studies have shown a strong association between wheat consumption and the incidence of schizophrenia.”
Take a peak at the article and let me know your thoughts on the whole gluten issue, would love to hear some opinions since I’ve only started looking into this.
