We all have our own ways of dealing with stress. Some of us go the healthy route, like one of my friends who sneaks out of work early to get a massage, while others turn to unhealthy behaviors, like drinking too much or eating leftover Halloween candy.
People who exercise, however, know how much a good workout can ease stress and release tension. I have one client who runs up and down the stairs at work whenever her boss says something stupid (she’s become very adept at stairclimbing). I have another client who goes to kickboxing class and makes a mental list of all her worries. Each worry gets a kick or a punch and, by the end of class, she feels calm and ready to face the rest of her life.
