For the last couple of weeks I had been going back and forth on how to write this, do I write it for each guy or do I go for the group write up. A mutual comment from the a few of the guys pushed me to write this as a group. The comment came from Glen but was echoed by everyone else “I don’t think I could have done this without all my friends doing it alongside me”. It was a common consensus that doing the program together helped these fellows surpass our/their greatest expectations.
I’ve had the pleasure to be part of this group of friends now both in a professional setting and a personal setting. We’re no strangers to the occasional beer. When I approached the group about doing the Grit to Glory program, that was the first question “Can we still drink beer?”. My answer wasn’t popular, but nevertheless, they took on the challenge. Now I know that the occasional beer still made it’s way into the mix, but let’s face it being fit and healthy also means enjoying some of the finer things in life. No matter the day, no matter the workout these guys pushed hard every chance they had. It was interesting to watch when they were in the gym together, and we would get to see the dynamic between friends trying to push each other. Always in good fun, they would poke fun at one another, this teasing always forced them to push a little bit harder. And of course, if you’re willing to give it you have to be willing to take it. So we had a great looptail of motivation and teasing.
There’s no sense in trying to hide it, their shoot was essentially a night out for myself and them, we just had some photos to get through first. Sometimes I’m at the shoot to motivate and encourage, I knew going into this one that my job that day would be very easy. The friendships that have been forged over the years would take the brunt of the work for me, all I had to do is sit back and have fun. I’ve always enjoyed doing shoots with friends but this one stands out as being one of the most fun to date. Never a dull moment, whether it was Glen and his family or Roy taking a shot at a sitcom classic or Joel trying not to laugh during serious shots or Tiger trying to get a perfect golf swing or Adam wearing the only suit that fit him, we had a great time. A big congratulation goes out to these guys who through thick or thin stuck it out and dragged each other to the finish line!
